About Me
I’m Becky Cole, a software engineer at Westpac with a background in vocational education, digital learning and media production.
Before moving into software, I designed courses and assessment tools and ran an award-winning community radio station. Those experiences shape how I explain complex ideas and build interfaces that guide people clearly.
My software work and learning span Java and Spring Boot alongside personal projects in Python, React and Django REST Framework.
At Laracon AU 2026, I’m sharing Think Like a Teacher, Build Better Software: a practical framework for helping users understand, recover and finish.
Outside work, I explore expressive robotics and animatronics, bringing together software, puppetry and character-led movement.
